After watching some Star Trek, I decided to sketch one of my favorite minor characters from Deep Space Nine (Star Trek: DS9), Ezri Dax.

Avengers Assemble! Part 1
I'm working on a big painting that will feature portraits of all the avengers from the film (as well as the villain). It will be fun once I get all of these sketches done! I've got 1 more avenger ( Bruce Banner) and the villain (Loki - in progress) to go before I can compile them all into one large composition for my painting.
Here are some early rough sketches of the portraits I've finished so far in a collage. :)

Loki!
Cartoon break!
Ever since I first laid eyes on the character and actor who portrays Loki (Tom Hiddleson) in "The Avengers" (and "Thor"), I've loved him. Honestly, he's just too cute that even though he's supposed to be a tortured, evil soul, you just want to hug him and then slap him for being a jerk.
Just a little sketch I did.

Snippet, whippet, muppet..no that one doesn't work.
Eh, so my lack of sleep is getting to me but I have been productive so it's all good in my book.
I decided to take the canvas sketch I did, do a basic color blocking on the actual canvas and then upload it to put the finishing touches on it via the magical tool, Photoshop.
I'm about...2/3 of the way finished but I decided to post a little peek into a section I recently finished.
Sexy.

Pre-Painting
Ok, time to tackle the basics with canvas and acrylics. It's been at least a year since I've worked with acrylics, which is odd since I love the medium.
For this first venture back into traditional media, I've decided to do a portrait of the actor, Michael Fassbender (from movies such as Prometheus, Shame, X-Men:First Class, Inglorious Basterds, etc)
This is a pencil pre-sketch on canvas (12 x 12) that will later be covered within its life with acrylic.
Tomorrow, I begin!

Some updated sketches (April 2012)
I just started doing more work in my sketchbook. Been too long since I did some sketches in just pen. It feels good man!
The first 2 pieces are of a strange venture into doing unusual fantasy/scifi/don't know what the hell to call it art. Then it's a woman with short hair. Still not sure what to make of that one as well. Then the last piece is a random one just thrown in that I did of an actress, Felicia Day.

This guy again?
UPDATE: Here's the final illustration of the sketch below. I'm pleased with it considering it was an experiment in photoshop for me. I don't paint often in black and white so it was fun! I originally had a red burned graffiti on the back wall behind the person of the Russian Flag during WW2 (hammer and sickle) but it distracted too much from the main focus so I removed it.
So, I watched another film that this actor in it, albeit older (10-12 years older), and inspired again to sketch a portrait from that film.
It really is a great film called "The Inner Circle". Kind of offbeat, but a very good psychological look into the mindset of the Russian people during the reign of Joseph Stalin and WWII, through the eyes of Stalin's personal projectionist, Ivan Sanchin (original name was changed for the film) as he was accepted into the inner circle of Stalin's government. It's hard to find as a film but the characters are worth the watch.
I will be taking this sketch and painting it eventually. I am thinking of going much darker with it, with heavy lighting and bold contrast and a minimal color palette. I want it to be depressing. :p
